Clear it is that there is an obvious similarity between what the Computing Dictionary and the Legal Dictionary have to say about piracy. Being this a concept known to humanity for centuries now, I believe that piracy is the most rehearsed ways of practicing theft in all history. Giving oneself credit for something someone else has done is an action practiced since the origins of humanity. For these reasons and many more, I believe such evil is and will continue to be one truly hard to wipe out.

Latin America is the second largest piracy producer in the world with a 58% of the total production being pirate. Having a greater appeal, Mexico’s Software piracy rate is that of 61%. Being tied up with Oman and Costa Rica, Mexico is ranked as 53rd in the list of countries with the highest levels of piracy in the world.

It is worth mentioning that in fact, it is well known that piracy is not only a form of practicing crime but indeed, provokes it. In Mexico, many pirate businesses are run by drug cartels and other crime organization who need money to finance their wars. For instance, copies of a Microsoft software were reported to be pirated by the drug cartel “la Familia”. Being so widely available, piracy has not only represented the loss of millions of dollars in the software industry within the country of Mexico, but has indeed become a habit.

Even of greater appeal is to say that there is nearly no authority in Mexico trying to prevent such evil. For instance, the government, who is in charge of penalizing such evil does nothing against it. This is due to various reasons: the police which is in charge of enforcing justice and law, are paid by the pirates to have permission of selling pirated goods. So, in other words, police is corrupted, but it is not only the policemen who are corrupted, but almost the entire Mexican police agency, not to say that the entire one, is corrupted by this businesses that make quite an amount of money.

Another reason why Mexican levels of piracy are so hight is because local and State governments are too busy blaming the Federal Government of being corrupted, and steeling taxes, while the Federal Government is too busy fighting for power between itself and against the Drug Cartels.

Finally, I believe the cause which influences this issue the most is the lack or poorness of the education in Mexico. Even when Mexico is ranked as one the countries who invests most money in education of the world, many corruption-associated problems prevent Mexican education from being efficient. The teachers Union, controlling huge amounts of money and labour, not only control many important government officials due to the two elements mentioned previosly. For this reason, the word education in Mexico is not only terrible, but instead something like blasphemy.

To conclude, I believe this evil will probably never be eradicated from this planet, however, I am really sure that we can greatly diminish it. Education, I believe is the only way of fulfilling such objective.
